A high-level delegation from Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), headed by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Omar Ahmed Mohammed, participated in observing the parliamentary elections of the State Duma in the Russian Federation as international observers from September 18 to 20.
In an official statement, the Commission noted that the delegation included the Head of the Electoral Administration, Hussein Abdul-Sada Bahir, and Board of Commissioners member Abbas Farhan. This participation came in response to an official invitation from the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, as part of efforts to enhance joint cooperation, exchange field expertise, and learn about international experiences in managing and organizing electoral processes.
The delegation conducted field tours across several polling centers to monitor the organizational and technical procedures adopted for the voting process. Additionally, the visit's program included participating in the international forum "Elections in Times of Turbulence" to discuss mechanisms for addressing challenges and managing elections amid exceptional circumstances and changes.
