The latest data released by the World Gold Council for September 2026 revealed that the total gold reserves of Arab countries listed among the world's top 100 holders reached 1,649.1 tonnes, representing approximately 4.52% of total global holdings, which stand at 36,478 tonnes.
Saudi Arabia topped the Arab nations with reserves of 323.1 tonnes, followed by Lebanon in second place with holdings of 286.8 tonnes. Iraq ranked third with reserves recorded at 175.6 tonnes, followed by Algeria with 173.6 tonnes, and Libya with 146.7 tonnes.
The World Gold Council's reports tracking the top 100 holders rely on official statistics certified by central banks and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), reflecting nations' strategies to strengthen their financial positions and diversify sovereign reserves.
