Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation: Iraq and Bangladesh Sign Two MoUs on Facilitation of Procedures and Political Consultations

In a move aimed at expanding the horizons of diplomatic and political cooperation, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with its Bangladeshi counterpart, on the sidelines of the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), hosted in the capital, Baghdad.

The bilateral meeting between Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Bangladeshi counterpart, Humayun Kabir, saw extensive discussions on developing bilateral ties across various fields, as well as an exchange of views on issues of common interest.

The meeting culminated in the signing of two strategic MoUs:

  • The first provides for the mutual exemption of entry visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, facilitating the movement of delegations and official business between the two countries.

  • The second establishes a clear mechanism for regular political consultations between the two foreign ministries.

Both sides reaffirmed that these agreements serve as a cornerstone for maintaining continuous communication channels, consolidating diplomatic ties, and unlocking new avenues of mutual cooperation in service of both nations' interests.
