Iraqi MP Karim Aliwi Al-Mohammadawi has called on the government to conduct a comprehensive review of security agreements and joint coordination mechanisms with the United States, following recent security developments that have seen repeated strikes on Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) sites.
In an official statement, Al-Mohammadawi emphasized that the executive branch must resort to diplomatic channels and international legal frameworks to halt these military operations, describing them as a direct breach of national sovereignty and a violation of diplomatic norms.
The statement noted that these violations represent an explicit breach of the provisions of the bilateral agreement governing the withdrawal of international forces from the country, stressing the necessity of decisive government action to ensure respect for Iraq's sovereignty and the independence of its security decision-making.
