Docking of Three Giant Oil Tankers at Basra Port with Expectations to Export 6 Million Barrels

Maritime sources at the Iraqi Ports Company reported today, Friday, the docking of three giant foreign oil tankers at Basra Port, in a move that reflects an accelerating pace in Iraqi oil export operations.

The sources explained that the loading capacity of each tanker is two million barrels, and the Ministry of Oil is set to commence loading operations to export a total of 6 million barrels of crude oil. Furthermore, a fourth tanker is expected to arrive at the port with an additional capacity of one million barrels.

These field developments coincide with an announcement by the Minister of Oil, Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi, during a press conference held in Basra Governorate. He reported a tangible leap in exports, noting that the total oil exports for the month of July approached 49 million barrels.

Al-Abadi confirmed that the loading of four crude oil tankers was completed today and that they have already begun their maritime journeys toward global markets. He revealed that the daily export rate since the beginning of August has stabilized at two million barrels, a record rate achieved for the first time in Iraq since the outbreak of the current regional crisis.
